International Women’s Day

On this International Women’s Day, we are reminded of feminist Adrienne Rich’s words: “[t]he most important thing one woman can do for another is to illuminate and expand her sense of actual possibilities.” This year, our firm is re-committing to a year of mentorship, leadership, and empowerment. Let us all broaden our perspective, explore different paths, and recognize the potential within ourselves and others.

In honour of International Women’s Day, we are celebrating some of the amazing people in the Ottawa community. Our colleagues, Emily and Amanda, visited eleven organizations today to drop off a small token of our appreciation. These organizations make a difference in the lives of women and gender nonconforming individuals on a daily basis.   We are so very grateful for their hard work.

On a final note, Dress for Success Ottawa is a local charity that offers women and gender nonconforming individuals a network of support, professional attire and development tools for work. They collect gently used business clothes for their Program.  This past weekend, Dress for Success was the victim of a break in.

Black & Associates, in conjunction with the CCLA, is hosting a clothing drive to help restock the shelves of Dress for Success Ottawa.  During the month of March, you can drop off your clothing donations to the CCLA’s Offices at the Courthouse or our firm.  We will deliver all contributions weekly to the charity.

We invite you and your friends to donate your business clothes or make a financial contribution to the “Your Hour, Her Power” campaign where you are invited to donate one hour of your pay:  https://ottawa.dressforsuccess.org/get-involved/donate/

Many thanks to all of the incredible women and gender nonconforming individuals in our lives.

We appreciate you.
