Articling Student | emily@black-law.ca

Emily Conte is an articling student at Black & Associates. Emily strives to further our clients’ interests by obtaining effective and efficient solutions to their legal problems and supporting them throughout the litigation process.

Having joined the firm in 2022 as a summer student, Emily has assisted with various legal disputes in areas such as employment law, corporate commercial litigation, and defamation. She looks forward to tackling new legal challenges throughout her articling term and beyond.

Emily has developed a keen interest in civil litigation. Emily’s passion for oral advocacy began when she won the Ontario Bar Association and the Ontario Justice Education Network’s Competitive Mock Trials in 2014. She has continued to develop her skills through her work with the Advocacy Club.

Originally from Brantford, Ontario, Emily has happily settled in the city of Ottawa. Emily attended the University of Ottawa for her Honours Bachelor and Juris Doctor degrees. While completing her Bachelors, Emily worked at various federal departments where she developed drafting and legal research skills. While at law school, Emily was a Teaching Assistant in Torts Law and presented weekly tutorials to over 60 students.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys travelling and watching cooking shows while attempting to replicate the techniques she sees on screen.
