Lucie Atangana is a civil litigation lawyer at Black & Associates. Lucie practices in both official languages, supporting her clients by providing them with accessible and efficient legal advice.  Lucie has appeared before the Superior Court, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Small Claims Court and various tribunals.

Called to the bar in June 2024, Lucie obtained her Juris Doctor with distinctions from the joint Political Science and French Common Law program of the University of Ottawa. During law school, Lucie was involved in student politics, where she advocated for access to services for francophone students, and housing rights for on-campus residents. In 2020, Lucie co-founded the University of Ottawa’s Sexual Health Centre which she directed until 2022.

Prior to joining Black & Associates, Lucie completed her articles at a national boutique litigation firm in Ottawa. There, she gained experience representing clients in constitutional matters in both official languages. As a student, Lucie worked for the federal public service, the House of Commons, and interned for a Federal Member of Parliament.

Lucie enjoys being involved with her community and is passionate about promoting the arts. In 2024, Lucie worked with the International Center for African Culture and Heritage in Yaoundé (Cameroon) to digitalize and display oral history archives of the Evuzok, a Cameroonian tribe. In 2023, in partnership with Art Battle Canada, Lucie organized a non-profit event with proceeds going to Christie Lake Kids’ art program. She is also involved in the local fashion scene, contributing to the organization of various runway shows put on by Ottawa’s young curators.  Originally from Paris (France), with a detour in Toronto and Alicante (Spain), Lucie has happily settled in Ottawa. In her spare time, Lucie enjoys playing soccer, spending time with her family and friends. She is always on the hunt for thrifted finds, beautiful fabric, and local art prints.
