Babacar Faye
Lawyer | babacar@black-law.ca
Babacar Faye started practicing law after obtaining a joint degree in Common Law and Political Science Program at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common Law. Babacar is a fully bilingual litigator and is dedicated to ensuring basic human dignity for all.
Babacar’s career in advocacy began when he wrote to the Commissioner of French Language Services Commissioner to obtain provincial funding for the construction of a new building for his High School at 15 years old. It is no surprise that Babacar has since continued to involve himself in advocacy and social justice work.
During law school, Babacar was heavily involved with various student associations, and was the first President of the University of Ottawa Undergraduate Students' Union, having sat on its first board in the year prior. There, he advocated on behalf of students to ensure a safe and fair learning environment, one that is free of racism, and managed the Union amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic.

In joining Black and Associates as a student in 2022, Babacar was excited to learn and discover all of the avenues of redress that the law can provide to individuals and organizations that have been wronged. Despite identifying as an idealist, Babacar believes in the importance of practicality; finding a solution that will work for clients moving forward.
Babacar was born in Kamsar, Guinea, and grew up in the GTA, having come to Canada as a refugee. Babacar worked throughout his undergrad and law school, working as a line cook, at the Student Union and in the federal government, where he reinforced his strong work ethic and discipline and developed crisis management skills.

At Black and Associates, Babacar has developed a wide ranging practice, including corporate governance, commercial litigation, labour and employment law, intentional torts, municipal / property law, and constitutional law. He has worked with and supported members of Black and Associates before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Divisional Court, the Superior Court, the Small Claims Court, and Landlord Tenant Tribunal.

When not supporting the clients of the firm, Babacar likes to bake, cook, ride his bike, and spend time with his American Cocker Spaniel Spirou.
