DESNEIGES MITCHELL

CIVIL LITIGATION LAWYER | desneiges@black-law.ca

Called to the Bar of Ontario in 2012, Desneiges maintains a broad civil litigation practice with a particular focus on employment law and workplace investigations.  Desneiges provides strategic advice to individuals and businesses.  

 

Prior to joining Black & Associates, Desneiges worked as a Workplace Responsibility Advisor at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police where she provided advice to senior management concerning misconduct and administrative law. Desneiges has also provided training to workplace investigators across Canada.

 

In addition, Desneiges has over a decade of experience working at a large firm in insurance defence and employment law.  She uses that experience to now practice predominantly in plaintiff-side civil litigation.  Desneiges has been to trial in professional negligence, personal injury and employment law matters.  She has appeared in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, Court of Appeal for Ontario, and Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.  Desneiges has also conducted and overseen hundreds of workplace investigations.

 

Desneiges is active in the wider community.  She sits on the Board of Directors of the Ottawa Pro Bono Employment Law Clinic ("Clinic").  From June 2020 to present, the Clinic's volunteer lawyers and law students provided over $400,000 of free employment law services annually to members of the community living at or below the poverty line. 

  

In her spare time, Desneiges is completing her Master of Laws at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law, with a focus  on employment law.   She is also an avid sports fan and enjoys local standup comedy.
