Today marks the one-year anniversary of the launch of Black & Associates – the law firm that I am exceptionally lucky to call home.
As I reflect on these last 12 months, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. For my brilliant, dynamic, supportive, and hilarious colleagues. For our amazing clients. For the incredible collegiality of the Ottawa bar, judiciary, and CCLA. For the support of my family and friends during one of the most tumultuous, exciting, and transformative years of my life.
I am simultaneously bewildered by the fact that, somehow, an entire year has gone by. We, as individuals, as a team, and as a society, have gone through literally countless changes since June of 2020. In spite of various curveballs that have been thrown our way, I have been so inspired by our team’s consistent commitment to each other, to our clients, and to the administration of justice:
We support each other – personally and professionally.
We share common principles and we stick to them.
We strive to do right by our clients and our community.
We introduce each other to new ideas and ways of thinking.
We challenge each other to step outside of our respective comfort-zones.
We treat ourselves to cupcakes as necessary.
We work hard.
We take breaks.
We have a ton of fun.
We love what we do.
I am so grateful to everyone who has supported our growing team. Year one was equal parts exciting and fulfilling. I am so excited for what year two has in store.
